Manufacturer Description:
A blend of the best provinces in the world: Virginia, Kentucky and Louisiana harmoniously matched with Black Cavendish, quality Curly-Cuts and flake pieces. The result is a premium tobacco in the highest possible quality and sophistication. The variety of cuts ensure a cool and even burn. The valuable mixture is extremely soft and pleasant. The subtle fruity flavor is unobtrusive and excites both the smoker and his surroundings.
Characterisation:
The Jubiläumsedition which means “anniversary edition” is a rather chunky mixture in bright, medium and dark brown shades, the mentioned by the manufacturer curlies rare few and the bits of flake are rubbed out unevenly. The consistency is due to the relatively high humidity, almost a little sticky. The rising aroma out of the embossed tin is intensely sweet and reminiscent of a fruit infusion with red fruits, such as rose hips, raspberry and hibiscus.
Plugging:
The Jubiläumsedition should be carefully plugged because of its different components, because the more compressed tobaccos rise under the flame. With practice, you will find, however, quickly the necessary balance between too tight and too loose, so that the filling does not expire in between.
Light up:
The Jubiläumsedition requires as well as the plugging some attention when lighting. Thus, quite two flames be needed to bring an even glow. After a first smolder prudent smoothing with the tamper is advisable. Then go with the flame over the filling again. Even then, a relighting still will be necessary, but if the filling is burning once reliable, it will no longer go out.
Smoking properties:
The Jubiläumsedition smokes as promised by the manufacturer actually pleasantly cool. A gentle smoke flatters the tongue with sweet and nutty flavors that are supported and varies from soft, toasty notes, which may remind you of rye bread and derives of the used quality Virginia´s. So laborious plugging and lighting may have been, the Jubiläumsedition compensates by its uncomplicated burning behaviour. From time to time bring the embers to the tobacco with the tamper and enjoy the mild-spicy smoke until in the end medium gray ash with a few unburned particles and some condensate remains.
Redolency:
The room note of the Jubiläumsedition is - as stated by the manufacturer - rather inconspicuous, tending to sweetness and will not stand out in a tolerant society.
Conclusion:
The Jubiläumsedition is a coarse mixture with irregular ready rubbed in light and dark brown. If the ritual of lighting up is done with the required patience the smoker can expect a very cool burning tobacco with rather nutty-sweet than fruity notes. The high-quality Virginia gives a varied note of roasted bread that still enhances the overall impression. A very harmonious and yet not boring tobacco. With some practice from more experienced smokers it also can be smoked incidentally and can teach the beginner to make an effort in the preparation ... It's worth it!
