Manufacturer Description:
A roll cake tobacco, spun by carefully matured Virginia and Cavendish tobaccos with a light taste of Latakia, bringing about a wonderful aroma. Quite specially selected Virginia-leaves are used as an envelope for all our spun tobaccos. The deposit for this special mixture is a mix of Virginia, original Mac Baren Cavendish and a touch of Syrian Latakia leaves. Collectively, these tobaccos give the Latakia Blend its fresh and flawless smoke. As with all our spun tobaccos only a soft top flavor has been added. You will not come any closer the natural tobacco flavor than with this tobacco.
Characterisation:
The Latakia Blend Roll Cake comes in an extraordinary shape. For this tobacco long small finger-sized rolls of tobacco were cut into approximately 1 mm wide slices (curlies). As it is just normal for a natural product the internal composition of the slices vary. But we can say that the Curlies are predominantly medium brown, with golden inclusions and a dark brown irregularly shaped core. The scent is reminiscent of rye bread and just a whiff of burning autumn leaves betrays the Latakia. As is customary for the Mac Baren the tobacco is firmly pressed into the tin, which might give the impression that tobacco is too moist and sticky. However, this is clearly not the case. The tobacco is just right to be immediately plugged and smoked fresh out of the tin.
Plugging:
The Latakia Blend Roll Cake formally requests because of its unusual design to experiments. The easiest way is probably to grind the curlies to a Mixture. The supreme discipline for very experienced is to stack them on each other in a pipe with a big bowl. The best results are achieved, however, if the Curlies broken in halves or quarters or gently crushed and given with little pressure into the pipe and loose tobacco strands are on top. Also you should not plug all the way up because the tobacco rises under the flame and could otherwise swell burning crumbs over the top.
Light up:
The Latakia Blend Roll Cake is much easier to light than to stuff: the single flame of a single matchstick and a gentle smoothing with the pusher are enough to create a uniform glow. In between, you should bring this closer to the tobacco using the tamper, so the filling will burn until the end.
Smoking properties:
For outside the Latakia Blend Roll Cake is unfortunately not a great choice because it gets hot in the wind and endangers the pipe. The tobacco shows despite its, according to the manufacturer only delicate flavors but the typical warm, honey-like aroma of Mac Baren that lasts up to the end of the filling. In addition, however also occur significantly the tobaccos. Distinct bread aroma shows the good provenance of Virginia used during Latakia contributes a delicate and pleasant harmonious flavor. the Latakia Blend Roll Cake should not to be smoked too vigorously because it then tends to gargle. Preventing this in the end there is only to remove medium gray ash and some unburned crumbs.
Redolency:
In the room after smoking the Latakia Blend Roll Cake there is a surprising degree of Latakia to smell, so that the tobacco is not necessarily suitable for company.
Conclusion:
The Latakia Blend Roll Cake is a tobacco from the small family of Curly Cuts. The round discs are medium brown with gold and dark brown inclusions. The tobacco fresh from the tin smells for the aroma typical to the manufacturer, which is also found in the smoke. In fact, the Latakia Blend Roll Cake is not a typical English tobacco, as the taste of Virginia predominates, accompanied by the sweet warm flavor that is used in the Cavendish. The Latakia is more the seasoning for a perfect harmony. Its unusual design as Curlies, the average strenght and the balanced flavors make this tobacco interesting. Who will dare to manage the demanding preparation will get rewarded with a uniform, long smoking experience, which is both soft and spicy, tobacco genuine, but with a pleasantly sweet flavor. For those who want to try a Curly Cut the Latakia Blend Roll Cake is a good choice.
