Manufacturer Description:
The Kratermischung No. 2 is a pleasantly sweet and spicy Virginia Flake. A medium strong Flake for every occasion.
Characterisation:
The Kratermischung No. 2 is a slightly wider Flake, which lies nicely fanned out in the round tin. The Flakes are uniformly marbled light and medium brown and show lighter and darker inclusions. If you sniff on the freshly opened tin, the scent is lemony and spicy, as it is known from ground coriander, but it also reminds of toast with orange-marmalade. Although the Flakes are actually not too moist, they stick to each other are a little bit. So you have to carefully separate them, if you want to remove and plug them in one piece.
Plugging:
As a typical Flake you can bring the Kratermischung No. 2 quite classic bent and folded in the pipe. Its slightly wider format, however, also requires a slightly broader head, if you make a point of not splitting up the Flake. If you want to save yourself this little effort, you can plug the Kratermischung No. 2 but also rubbed as an own Ready Rubbed. Either way, you should be careful neither to plug too tight, nor too loose, otherwise there may be problems with the puffing.
Light up:
As is usual with Flakes, you should let the first embers go out, then gently smooth the top with the tamper. If you give fire to the prepared surface, you will get an even and steady glow.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of Kratermischung No. 2 is mild, but not too weak, but pleasantly spicy, without overstraining. In addition to a distinct toasted bread note, which is attributable to the underlying Virginia. In not too greedy smoking you can taste the tingling aroma of coriander somewhere between sour lemon and slightly hot pepper, as you know it from the real spice. If one pays a little attention in smoking behavior, Kratermischung No. 2 proves to be less problematic and preserves its aroma until the end of the filling. Apart from a few sticky crumbs, the medium gray ash and the little condensate make very little cleaning work.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Kratermischung No. 2 is rather for pure tobacco and requires a tolerant society, if you do not want to enjoy this tobacco among smokers or on your own.
Conclusion:
As a broader Flake and pure Virginia, the Kratermischung No. 2 is aimed at not quite inexperienced smoker. However, if you observe some basic rules, the enjoyment of Kratermischung No. 2 is quite simple. The aroma harmonizes wonderfully with a mild-spicy basic tobacco. The tobacco tingles pleasantly on the tongue, but this is not to be feared in pure Virginia's tongue-burning, but due to the peppery and lemony aroma, which is not overly pronounced, but is quite exceptional.
