Manufacturer Description:
A mellow mixture designed to bridge the gap between aromatic and english style blends. Comprised of golden and dark brown Virginia with a sprinkling of Black Cavendish, this excellent blend bears an natural fragrance accompanied by subtle notes of caramel and apricot.
Characterisation:
The Winding Road is an auburn mixture with a few darker parts. Different cuts in width and length and an optimal humidity assure a good handling. The smell of sweet caramel and fruity orange are discreet, so that it couldn’t be categorized as a highly aromatic tobacco.
Plugging:
This tobacco could be plugged without any problem with the smoker’s favourite method for mixtures.
Light up:
Light up is unproblematic too. The tobacco tends less to straighten up. With 1 to 2 flames and slightly dampened down with the tamper the wanted, constant glow could be achieved.
Smoking properties:
The smoking properties are conditioned by the Virginia. It needs some attention, so that it wouldn’t get too hot. Smoked cool and slowly it glows good-natured and with less condensate to the end. While that a discreet, fruity-sweet taste develops, where honey and caramel are cognizable. Beside the taste of the flavour Virginia is obvious too. The combination results in a mild, light sweetly taste, which is unobtrusive, but not boring. This tobacco is rather light and suited for any occasion.
Redolency:
The Winding Road’s redolence is rather like native tobacco – if there wasn’t that fine fruity and discreet sweet note. The Virginia is definite and combines with the aromas to a pleasing smell, which is neither too herb nor too obtrusive.
Conclusion:
The Winding Road is a from Virginia and discreet aromas dominated tobacco and therefore not a highly aromatic tobacco. The light taste of native tobacco and the discreet aromas combine to a pleasing, light fruity-sweet taste, which could be found in the redolence too. It needs some attention, so that the Virginia glows not too hot and became acidly. Smoked slowly and cool it’s pleasing and glows down with less condensate. A light tobacco for any occasion, which is suited for both the beginner and the advanced smoker.
