Claudio Cavicchi
In 1974, Claudio Cavicchi, an agriculturist, began making pipes for friends and his own use as a hobby.
Because the precious handmade pipes were met with unanimous approval, Claudio was encouraged to begin selling them in the whole of Italy through a distributor acquaintance since 1985. In the beginning of the 1990s the quality of his pipes had become known outside of Italy, so that today his annual production comprises about 500 pipes.
To meet his high standards, Claudio Cavicchi uses personally selected plateau briar from the regions of Calabria and Liguria, both known for the high quality of their briar wood. The briar is cured using traditional methods.
His passion for pipes guarantees that every single step in the pipe making process is manually executed by the master himself – aside from the assistance his wife Daniela provides when, for example, polishing mouthpieces or rusticating pipes. Every Cavicchi pipe comes with a perfectly drilled smoking channel and a handmade acrylic mouthpiece.
Most of his pipes come in quite large classic shapes. Marvelous smoking capabilities, exceptionally beautiful grain, and Claudio’s talent to shape a perfect pipe out of the briar block, are the main reasons why pipe smokers and collectors alike are time and again willing to be seduced to buy a Cavicchi pipe.
