Manufacturer Description:
This selection of blended Burley and Virginias offers a mild and creamy smoke from a medium density flake. With an added flavour, the pipe-smoker who derives pleasure from an easy to rub out flake will certainly enjoy Kendal Cream Flake.
Characterisation:
After opening the tin the Kendal Cream Deluxe Flake appears as dark brown, for SG typical flake slices in 7.5 to 2.5 cm. The dark slices are interlaced with a few bright streaks and due to the high sugar content a fine white veil may be visible. The smell is intensely sweet and reminiscent of sweet cream and honey. The consistency is somewhat unstable, so that the slices could be rubbed off rather simple. The fresh tobacco feels uniformly soft and slightly dampish.
Plugging:
The Kendal Cream Deluxe Flake could be plugged well. Because the slices fall apart rather quick, it is advisable to rub off the tobacco and stuff it in portions carefully and not too compressed. With a little care and patience it's also possible to plugg it with the "crack-and-fold-method". In both cases it's important to stuff not too tightly and leaving the tobacco a little air.
Light up:
To get the Kendal Cream Deluxe Flake glowing equal, a little patience is needed. After the first light up the tobacco tends to go out quick. After a slight depression with the tamper it must be re-ignite and possibly one have to repeat this procedure one more time. After that the Kendal Cream Deluxe Flake glows evenly to the end.
Smoking properties:
Despite the intensely fragrant flavor the Kendal Cream Deluxe Flake tastes more as nutty Burley with a sweet aftertaste. The flake should be smoked carefully so that it'll neither be stuffed too tight nor smoked too hot. Smoked slowly and cool the tangly-fresh taste of Virginia is remarkable too. The Kendal Cream Deluxe Flake glows down good-natured to the end, where the flavor is easing in the last quarter. It developes some condensate and the remaining ash is light gray and fine.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Kendal Cream Deluxe Flake is subtly sweet, whereby the smell of tobacco is clearly remarkable too. The sweetness is reminiscent of caramel and gives the redolence the pleasant impression that makes this tobacco advisable for any society.
