Danish Dark Cavendish, Burley- and Virginia-leaves ripen separately and get the flavor depth by adding a fully ripe Turkish Samsun. Vanilla flavors give this contrasting blend the exceptional aroma balance of subtle fine sweetness and fresh fruitiness.
The Sungold comes in transportable pouches as well as in tins, which are better suited for longer storage. When opening the packaging, the Sungold offers the appearance of an unusual but harmonious cut. It is composed very evenly of fine and longer-cut, medium-brown tobacco fibers, broader and shorter, black-brown fibers and golden yellow larger leaf-flakes. The intense aroma rising from the fresh opened pack reveals nothing of the contained oriental tobacco, but corresponds to a Danish blend and reminds the smell of fresh vanilla croissants. Although the tobacco was very firmly pressed into the tin and should therefore be loosened before plugging something, it is not too moist and can be brought into the pipe immediately.
Despite its different sized components, the Sungold can be stuffed as usual for loose mixtures. A uniform burn is achieved by starting loosely down and ending with gentle pressure.
After the first flame, you should gently use the tamper to smoothen the surface, as this will give the Sungold with the second flame an uniform glow until the end of the filling.
The smoke of the Sungold is unusually spicy for a Danish blend, which can be attributed to both the used Virginia, as well as the Oriental. In addition to the pronounced, but not intrusive spice there are toasted bread and hints of nut to taste, but above all - and this is to be expected in a Danish tobacco - the strong sweetish vanilla flavor. This will last until the last third of the filling, before the spice increases significantly, before the tobacco goes out and the uncomplicated burning off leaves some medium-gray ash and for a flavored tobacco very little condensate, which makes the cleaning just as uncomplicated.
The smell in the room after smoking the Sungold is clearly influenced by the used vanilla aroma despite the used Oriental and reminds many non-smokers of "typical pipe aroma", which is often meant to be quite pleasant.
Although the Sungold mixes different cutting widths and lengths, as well as larger leaf flakes, it is easy to handle and also burns off easily, making it suitable for beginners and any occasion. Despite the spice in the smoke and the natural tobacco flavors of toasted bread and nut, the Sungold is a typical Danish tobacco with a sweet vanilla flavor. In this case, however, this harmonizes so pleasantly with the basic tobaccos that it does not appear so obtrusive as is the case with some typical vanilla tobaccos. And thanks to its pleasant fragrance, non-smokers will not even notice the use of the notorious oriental tobacco ...
