1911 Adolf Eckert, member of the founding family, introduced the white dot at VAUEN. From then on, it was the trademark for pipes with a particularly attractive grain or elaborate production. 1921 Vauen registered the world-famous filter brand, Dr. Perl. Although the new white dot designer-set Tuerca is not registered for trademark, it certainly would have deserved to be. In a modern, timeless industrial look, this model is presented in a set with pipe and tamper. The name ‘Tuerca’ (Spanish for ‘nut’, the counterpart to a screw) stands for the dominant decorative ring on the stem. Two intentionally subtle shades of colour allow the central ring application to stand out. The white dot model is offered in three different shapes. The engraved tamper in an urban industrial design is an ideal companion to the Tuerca pipe and completes the designer set, which is delivered in a modern tin.

VAUEN pipes don´t have to be slowly broken in over a long time because the wood is protected by a special lining in the tobacco bowl.
Even by temperatures of 300 to 400°C, which occurs when lighting, cannot harm the pipe.

Achieve natural beauty
To make a pipe even more beautiful, the grain of the pipe is taken into account during production.
There are two classic grain patterns:
the straight grain and the bird´s eye grain.
In order to achieve these, the raw briar blocks from which the pipe is created, needs th be cut along the natural grain course.
Tip number 4
Sandblasting makes the most of the grain of the pipe
A pipe bowl which has a beautiful grain but with inherent imperfections is sandblasted. In the process the softer parts of the surface are washed out the harder relief.
The advantages are, as with rusticated pipes, a greater ruggedness and a cooler smoking pleasure.
