Slow burn, cool smoke, round and sweet in taste - exactly as it offers lovers of this traditional tobacco specialty and appreciate
Characterisation:
The Patriot Flake is quite dry in consistency and because of this quite crumbly. The tobacco captures the sweet smell of hay and uniform light to medium brown color of actual tobacco cigarette, but at the very good variety.
Plugging:
As a whole slice the Patriot Flake can be hardly smoked, because it is too crumbly, but it is thus very well to be rubbed and stuffed as a mixture. One should be very careful in plugging, not too tight, because the tobacco when lighting something rears, but not too loose, as this leads to more times of relighting during the smoke. If you give some loose tobacco crumbs on top of the filling, this facilitates the kindling.
Light up:
Explained by its rather dry consistency the Patriot Flake can be quite easily ignited, but if you have the Patriot Flake stuffed too tight or too loose it can be necessary to give fire again sometimes. However, this does not detract the taste.
Smoking properties:
As promised by the manufacturer the Patriot Flake offers smoky notes, reminiscent of a strong Kentucky. This spice is tempered by a surprising, almost velvety natural sweetness that suggests excellent Virginia. Unlike these sugar-rich tobaccos often is the case, the Patriot Flake does not bite on the tongue and it did not gargles if you do not transform the pipe in a furnace. For a Virginia it can easily be smoked by the way, even if its finely balanced flavors did not deserve that. Even cleaning makes little problems, because it remains only slightly gray ash and no condensate back in the pipe.
Redolency:
The room note of the Patriot Flake tobacco is real and could therefore be bothersome in society.
Conclusion:
The Patriot Flake is dry and crumbly in the round tin, also recalls its sweet hay fragrance rather to cigarette tobacco. Carefully plugged as a mixture it shows not only that Virginia is the home of American Independence Patriots, but are also excellent tobaccos from there. For a Virginia the Patriot Flake is very mild, gives no tongue bite or tned to gargle and yet offers a very pleasant natural sweetness paired with a pleasant spiciness that points with its smoky notes rather in the state of Kentucky. Its mild sweetness and the middle strength make this flake very suitable for smokers who want to try a pure Virginia Flake without being identical disappointed. Only the plugging requires some patience and practice, but worth it!
