Manufacturer Description:
A truly royal tobacco. Very fragrant aroma. The granules loosened after pressing give their best advantage to the sweet Virginia, aromatic toasted Burley and the spicy Oriental tobaccos.
Characterisation:
The Mixture No. 1 is available in both a pouch for easy carrying and in a tin for longer storage. If one opens one or the other, one sees a uniform mixture of medium and light brown tobaccos, which all originally seemed to have been a kind of cube cut, which was carefully grated, so that very regular flakes mix. Despite the contained Oriental, the rising scent is surprisingly reminiscent of scones with raisin, which is probably due to the other two tobaccos and possibly a casing, as a special flavor is not explicitly mentioned. The moisture is such that the Mixture no. 1 can be plugged immediately. If you take it out of the pouch, you can loosen up the pressed in flakes between the fingers before stuffing.
Plugging:
The flaky cut of Mixture No. 1 makes plugging easy - you can still let the tobacco trickle into the pipe. But you should take care not to make the filling too loose, otherwise no good puffing would arise.
Light up:
The loose little flakes of Mixture No. 1 take the flame is very easy, so that a short pressing with the tamper will suffice for a steady glow. To be on the safe side, it is possible to stroke the surface again with the flame, so there are certainly no problems.
Smoking properties:
Those who have expected a rather sweet tobacco due to the aromatic cold scent will be surprised. The smoke of Mixture No. 1 is abundant and very strong. Dominant is an intense tart-spicy pepperiness. Therefore, one should also watch not to puff too hard on the pipe, as the Mixture No. 1 otherwise will tingle on the tongue. On the other hand, typical flavors of the Oriental are less, at most a slightly resinous undertone. The burning is remarkably calm and leaves light, fine ashes and only a little condensate, which cause only little effort during the cleaning.
Redolency:
The redolence of Mixture No. 1 is for pure tobacco and so is not necessarily suitable for non-smoking society.
Conclusion:
The Mixture No. 1 resembles a rubbed out Cube Cut and is mainly composed of lighter tobaccos. The fine-flaky consistency facilitates the plugging and lighting and also makes the burning very uncomplicated. Very unusual for such a sweet-aromatic fragrant tobacco is the smoky, spicy and peppery taste and also to the strong tending strength. So you should not expect a mild aromatic and control your smoking behavior accordingly. But then the Mixture No. 1 is a pleasant and very unproblematic tobacco, which lovers of strong blends also can smoke incidentally.
