Manufacturer Description:
"Alea iacta est" - the die is cast ...
After a long test phase DTM would now like to introduce you the new tobacco blend "Tumblin 'Dice".
The name arose from the special cut this blend of naturally sweet light and medium brown Virginia grades and to a significant proportion of the precious aromatic Original Louisiana Perique: first of all, cut lengthwise, then pressed some time, then again cut crosswise and finally stored for ripening. The result are these about 6mm cubes, each of which contains the entire tobacco mixture. In pipes of larger or very large filling capacity, the "Tumblin 'Dice" develop its rich, delightfully round and sweet-spicy flavor. Without top flavourings.
Characterisation:
Different to accustomed as of DTM the Tumblin' Dice Special Cube Cut comes in a round can that is taller than wide. If you have removed the pull-top the can be closed by using the enclosed plastic lid. The small cubes of tobacco are mainly medium brown, but in between there are also lighter and darker pieces. The smell is musty earthy while slightly fruity and sweet. The humidity is difficult to assess in this compressed and then chopped tobacco, but acts to be ready to smoke.
Plugging:
The plugging of the Tumblin' Dice Special Cube Cut becomes to a test laboratory due to the unusual cube cut. The general recommendation is to let the cubes trickle into the pipe and then ignite. However, it may then happen that between the cubes circulates too much air and not a good puffing arises. Some crushed cubes at the bottom of the fill and then again as a fire starter on top and a gentle pressing with the tamper provides better results. But again: the personal taste decides and what works in one must not appeal to everyone.
Light up:
The Tumblin' Dice Special Cube Cut requires multiple flames and a stable plugging until the cubes form a uniform bed of embers. If this is mastered with a little practice, however, convinced of tobacco by its cool, long and even burn.
Smoking properties:
Is this exotic ritual of plugging and lighting mastered discloses the Tumblin' Dice Special Cube Cut spicy tobacco flavor and a pleasant natural sweetness reminiscent of good black bread and involves the use of high-quality Virginias. The Perique may join in here, but it considers itself very much in the background and was probably added only for the rounding. Unlike some other Virginias the Tumblin' Dice Special Cube Cut tends neither to gargling yet to get hot on the contrary. The tobacco in the combustion always remains cool and unpretentious. Back remains dark gray ash and some unburnt residues which are due to the unusual shape, but fortunately almost no condensate.
Redolency:
The room touch of Tumbling 'Dice Special Cube Cut is weak sweet, but tobacco genuine, so you should consider whether one is in a tolerant society and no one interferes.
Conclusion:
The Tumblin' Dice Special Cube Cut is especially interesting because of its exotic cut. Indeed, the tobacco pieces like brown cubes roll out of the can. Unfortunately, this form it just makes a little hard to stuff the tobacco and to set on fire. But if this is successful, it has a long, uniform glow and consistently pleasant smoking experience. This is not as spectacular as the form could suspect, but the solid tobacco notes between pleasant spiciness and juicy savory sweetness of pumpernickel bread have among lovers of Virginias their fans. The dice are no beginners or beginning tobacco, but definitely an experience for curious and “playful” smokers.
