Sahara:
Next to the camel, the date palm is the second pillar of human existence in the desert. Luckily we couldn't avoid adding a date aroma to one of our mixtures. The honey-sweet aroma of the date harmonizes perfectly with the large proportion of nutty burley. Broken Virginia, Black Cavendish and Cube Cut Virginia complete this delicately flavored blend.
Characterisation:
The Sahara is packaged in a round tin and wrapped in a paper rosette. The cube cut has dissolved into light flakes that mix with fine dark cuttings. A good proportion of very finely chopped, medium brown Ready Rubbed is added. The scent immediately hits the nose in an appetizing way. Sweet and spicy at the same time, it is somewhat reminiscent of cloves. The pressed tobacco has retained some moisture, so the Sahara should be allowed to dry for a quarter of an hour before plugging.
Plugging:
The compressed tobaccos contained in the Sahara require some space in the pipe. This should therefore not be too small and the model chosen should not be plugged too tightly. Therefore, you should make sure to pour in the tobacco loosely and only press it lightly at the end.
Light up:
The Sahara rears up under the first flame thanks to the Ready Rubbed included. If you smooth the surface slightly with the tamper, you can create an even glow with the second flame.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of the Sahara is mild, but has a subtle spice. Associations with juicy bread and toast dominate. The casing used is not very intrusive. It accompanies the natural tobacco aromas noticeably, but does not overpower them. Above all, you can taste a gently sweet freshness on the tongue. This impression remains until almost the end of the filling. Occasionally it may be necessary to gently press the embers against the tobacco using the tamper. This improves the burn, which is otherwise inconspicuous. There is no need to worry about burnt tongue or excessive gargling at any time. When the Sahara goes out, some unburned crumbs and medium gray ash remain to be cleaned.
Redolency:
The room note of the Sahara is not overly perfumed due to the aroma, but rather natural. So you should show some consideration for non-smoking people.
Conclusion:
The Sahara consists of different cuts, which are rather fine and predominantly medium brown. The included Ready Rubbed makes the filling not entirely suitable for beginners. However, with a little practice you can prepare the tobacco with the necessary care. The tobacco then presents itself as mild and balanced: some Virginia spice, clear toasted and juicy bread aromas, subtle sweetness. This comes naturally and with the impression of an unusually fresh note, which adds that certain something extra. If you don't mind having to use the tamper occasionally, you'll be happy to smoke the Sahara on any occasion, even casually.
