Manufacturer Description:
Pleasently palatable and wonderfully smooth, this aromatic mixture is slightly nutty, boasting flavours of maple, coconut and dark chocolate.
Characterisation:
By opening the tin one could see a coloured mixture of mostly short and medium width cut tobaccos from yellow to dark brown, nearly black colour. An aromatic smell, which hints definitely to vanilla, streams off the tin and combine with a nutty nuance, but isn’t obtrusive at all. The tobacco feels velvety mellow and well conditioned.
Plugging:
Though the short, medium width cut the tobacco could be plugged very well, even in bowls with different sizes. With a little bit more pressure an optimal draw will be achieved.
Light up:
The Smooth Sailing could be light up without any problem. It doesn’t tend much to straighten up and with one to two flames it’ll glow well.
Smoking properties:
After light up the tobacco evolves a nutty-sweetly taste, whereby the sweetness seems to be more from the tobacco than the aromas. During the filling the discreet aroma of vanilla and honey become remarkable too. But at the foreground stays the taste of Burley and Virginia. Burning down is constant and slow with less tend to build up condensate. With a little bit attention the Smooth Sailing could be smoked cool and mild. A fine, medium grey ash will remain.
Redolency:
UnThe redolence is pleasurable aromatic, but unobtrusive. The smell of vanilla combines with mild tobacco to a sweetly, “typical” smell of pipe tobacco. This tobacco is suited for any occasion and should be welcome in any society.
Conclusion:
The Smooth Sailing is a colourful mixture of mostly short and medium width cut tobaccos with a discreet smell of nut and vanilla. Handling is unproblematic. Due to the cut both plugging and smoking properties are easily. The nutty-sweetly, unobtrusive taste, which could be also found in the redolence, add up to a pleasing smoking pleasure. The tobacco is light, but tobacco-fast in taste. Burning down is cool and with less condensate. Therefore this tobacco is well suited for beginners and for enthusiasts of discreet flavoured tobaccos.
