Characterisation:
The Cock Robin is a Ready Rubbed whose throughout finely grated pieces are predominantly medium brown, with some lighter and darker portions. In the just-opened tin the tobacco smells sweet and fresh, the fragrance clearly reminiscent of apricots. Consistency seems already in the first opening of rather dry, but is the right condition to be plugged immediately.
Plugging:
The Cock Robin is already rubbed out ready to smoke and can therefore be given easily into the pipe. Unusually for a compressed tobacco it should be stuffed a little tighter as usual. Also during smoking you should give it a slight pressing with the tamper sometimes to achieve an even burn. Some loose crumbs on top of the filling are helpful for easy lighting.
Light up:
The Cock Robin is easy to light up. After the first flame let the embers extinguish and slightly flatten with the tamper, and then light up again. So you reach an even burn, which lasts until the end of the filling, if you (as mentioned above) occasionally use the tamper.
Smoking properties:
The Cock Robin has a dense smoke. The Virginia is much to taste as sweet and hearty. It makes probably for the gentle and not unpleasant tingling on the tongue. Even the Latakia is more spicy, its finer incense notes stay in the background and go until later in the course of smoking is this ethereal touch more intense. The Virginia is probably the slope due to gargling, you may encounter only by very attentive smoking manner. Patient and not too frequent puffing is best suited to get the full benefit of the Cock Robin. Nevertheless, some condensate remains in the pipe at the end. The ash to remove is fine and bright and so easy to clean.
Redolency:
The room touch of Cock Robin is rather inconspicuous for a latakia containing mixture, but you should out of consideration for sensitive minds rather smoke outside or in the society of like-minded.
Conclusion:
The Cock Robin is a finely grated Ready Rubbed medium brown color, which one can hardly believe its content of Latakia. In the sweet apricot fragrance this tobacco does not reveal, too. In lush smoke prevails of Virginia, which tingles gently on the tongue and a spicy sweetness offers. Although the Latakia is always present, but not intrusive, so that the Cock Robin is ideally suited for first experiments in the world of latakiatic tobaccos. However, you should bring some experience with the vagaries of Virginia, then provides the Cock Robin an unpretentious smoking experience.
