Manufacturer Description:
Glen Piper Mellow Aromatic. Rich mature pure Virginia tobacco with sweet Cavendish. Dark Brown Honeydew and a small proportion of Perique. During the hot pressing process over several days natural fruit flavours are introduced to create a smooth, cool and slow burning mild tobacco.
Characterisation:
This tobacco is a dark, ready rubbed flake with a few brighter parts and rather fine cut. The discreet aroma, with a lightly smell like milk chocolate mixed with spicy smell of tobacco is nearly only noticeable, if one sniff at the open tin. The tobacco is fluffily, smooth and in an optimal condition.
Plugging:
The Glen Piper is suitable for turning it between the fingers to loose balls, which are pressed slightly into the pipe so that one gets a loose filling. The last layer could be plugged a little bit more compressed and with some crumbs to allow a better lighting up.
Light up:
The tobacco could be light up very well. With a little inclination to straighten up, it glows good-natured after easy presses with the tamper.
Smoking properties:
Contrary to the discreet smell the taste is somewhat stronger. The strength of the tobacco is a mild and medium mixture, which nevertheless spreads a pleasing condiment. The mild, difficult to define fruity flavour combines to a pleasant unobtrusive taste. Thereby it glows down good-natured with a little tend to get hot, what could be regulated by the draw frequency. A dry and bright ash remains.
Redolency:
The redolence is discreet and pleasing. Not too sweet and lightly spicy. An unobtrusive, but in no way boring tobacco, which is socially acceptable too.
Conclusion:
A darker, ready rubbed flake with discreet fruit aroma and spicy tobaccos, which is both the taste and the redolence pleasing and mild. The Glen Piper shows good smoking properties and is easy to handle. Thus it needs less attention and could be smoked by the way very well. This tobacco is suitable for beginners, but also recommended for smoker who prefers neither strong aromatic mixtures nor pure English tobaccos.
