Manufacturer Description:
One of the most successful blends ever created. An explosion of aromas and spices. In combination with excellent blend of Bright Virginia, Black Cavendish and Burley. The unique aroma of vanilla and plum will surprise every connoisseur.
Characterisation:
Ilsted's Own No. 100 is a medium brown mixture with a few black parts. The single tobaccos are cut small and in different length, predominantly short. The tobacco smells sweetly as plum but only a little bit as vanilla. Humidity is optimal.
Plugging:
Ilsted's Own No. 100 could be plugged good and fluffily. The different length make it easy to fill the tobacco into the pipe and allow to control the drawing resistance well.
Light up:
The tobacco could be light up good with one or two flames, but it tends a little bit to straighten up. After slightly dampened down with the tamper another flame will let it glow constant.
Smoking properties:
Ilsted's Own No. 100 should be smoked slowly and cool, so that the combination of tobacco taste and sweetly aromas could come into one’s own. Smoked too hot the tobacco tends a little bit to prickle on the tongue. The nutty Burley weakens the sweetly aromas, so that a pleasing taste of vanilla with a fruity nuance of plum occur. Ilsted's Own No. 100 glows down rather quick, but with some attention the temperature could be controlled very well. Thereby develops not too much condensate. The aroma is present at any time, but at the end of a bowl it’ll decrease a little bit. The remaining ash is bright to medium grey.
Redolency:
The redolence is fruity-sweet. Vanilla could definitely be remarked but the something fruity character is noticeable too. The aromas nearly suppress any smell of tobacco, except the nutty smell of Burley. Ilsted's Own No. 100 is an unobtrusive tobacco for any society.
Conclusion:
Ilsted's Own No. 100 is an aromatic mixture of small cut tobaccos with different length. It’s handling is very well, but demands some attention, so that it wouldn’t get too hot. The equal flavouring is harmonising with the tobacco to an unobtrusive but tasteful mixture. Burning down is constant and good controllable with only less condensate. Ilsted's Own No. 100 is recommended for careful beginners as well as for advanced smokers who like to enjoy aromatic blends.
