Manufacturer Description:
THE FLAVOR FIREWORKS FOR THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
Rattray's Artist Line: Blossom Temptation Just in time for the traditional cherry blossom festival, Rattray's is launching a new edition of the Artist Line: »Blossom Temptation« is its name, which refers to the beauty and allure of the cherry blossom. Cherry blossoms are the first harbingers of spring, announcing the awakening of nature. In Japan, the Cherry Blossom Festival (Hanami) has been celebrated for more than 1,000 years to say goodbye to the cold winter. A tradition that is now also celebrated in Germany and is now honored with the »Blossom Temptation«. In the spirit of the cherry blossom, Rattray's chose the aroma of juicy, sweet, ripe cherries from Piedmont. This scent is underlined by black currants, which makes this blend wonderfully fruity. The outstanding composition of golden-brown Virginia and broken flake is crowned by Black Cavendish, which sets black accents in the tobacco picture.
Characterisation:
If you remove the already quite attractive cardboard cover of the Blossom Temptation, you will find the even more beautifully designed, large and rectangular tin underneath. An embossed golden cherry tree on a black background already indicates the aroma. If you lift the lid, a kind of business card with a short description appears. There is a cellophane bag underneath. Since this is only folded and not sealed, you should definitely transfer the tobacco to an airtight container for longer storage. The mixture is very evenly composed of broadly cut dark and medium brown fibers and golden brown flakes. Scattered medium-brown Ready Rubbed bits mix in with it. The scent is a mixture of cherry and currant, floral, delicately sweet and not obtrusive, but very natural. The humidity is ideal to bring the tobacco into the pipe immediately.
Plugging:
The Blossom Temptation is easy to plug because of its consistency. You can simply let it trickle loosely into the pipe and end it with gentle pressure towards the top.
Light up:
Lighting the Blossom Temptation is also easy. After the first flame you have to smooth the surface with the tamper and light it up again, but then the wide cuts ensure an even glow.
Smoking properties:
The Blossom Temptation presents itself as a balanced flavored mixture. In contrast to many "cherry tobaccos", the black currant is first tasted, supported by the surprisingly spicy Cavendish, which creates associations with wild fruits from the forest. The cherry underlines the background. As in the cold fragrance, it is fresh, very natural, almost flowery. At no time, however, does the aroma cover up the underlying tobaccos. The Virginia is of the mild and sweet variety, which makes it well suited to accompany the berries. The smoke is smooth and pleasant and the aroma lasts almost to the end. Medium gray ash and little condensate make cleaning just as easy as smoking.
Redolency:
The room note of the Blossom Temptation is quite pleasant due to the aroma, so that tolerant non-smokers think of it as "typical pipe scent" and perceive it as rather pleasant.
Conclusion:
The very attractively packaged Blossom Temptation is a flavored tobacco of the best quality. Both the balanced mix of flaky tobaccos in all shades of brown and the ideal moisture make it a tobacco that is easy to prepare and smoke. The aroma is clear and persistent in the smoke. Forest-spicy currants and floral cherries become a harmonious unit with more intense Cavendish and sweet Virginia. The tobacco has a mild nicotine content and no "sugar shock" is to be expected. So one should neither expect nor fear a typical cherry aromatic. The Blossom Temptation will even convince smokers of natural tobaccos if they get involved with it. Which is not difficult.
