Selected Virginias, ripe Burleys, sweet Black Cavendish and a Single Malt Scotch whisky characterize this tobacco.
The Red Blend 131 is a Wild Cut mixture of broad and narrow, long and short tobacco fibers, which are largely composed of medium and black-brown tobacco. Some lighter fibers and occasional flakes of different colors are mixed in below. The dark and sweet fragrance that rises from the tin is reminiscent of dried fruit, whisky and surprisingly, but not unpleasantly, of a cake with nuts. Between the fingers, the Red Blend 131 shows a slight residual moisture, so you should let the tobacco dry for a short time before plugging.
Although the different cuts of the Wild Cut it is advisable to be a bit careful not to fill the pipe too tightly, but the Red Blend 131 can actually be simply plugged when the pressure on the tobacco becomes slightly firmer getting higher in the pipe.
If you take care with the Red Blend 131 to evenly ignite the surface with the first flame and to use the tamper gently for smoothing, then you get a constant glow with the second flame.
The Red Blend 131 is not as snappy as some other flavored mixtures, but you can let the whisky aroma guide you and sip the Red Blend 131 rather than take vigorous puffs. Then it burns quite cool, but if you go too violently, the tobacco can tingle a little on the tongue and a slight gargling is also possible. When kept cool, the soft-sweet aroma is reminiscent of a very mild whisky, maybe even a whisky liqueur. The Red Blend 131 is not too sweet, but also leaves the basic tobacco room to develop. The Virginia with hay notes is noticeable in the background, the nutty Burley, which sometimes plays in the earthy and woody, is stronger, but above all the Cavendish contributes a malty sweetness that matches the whisky aroma. The tobacco taste becomes more intense towards the end, but the aroma continues until the end. Smoked attentively, the Red Blend 131 shows a calm, even burn and only a little medium gray ash and hardly any condensate remain.
The room note of the Red Blend 131 also shows spicy tobacco, but the sweet whisky aroma is more dominant, so that the tobacco can be accepted in tolerant company.
The Red Blend 131 is a Wild Cut, which is fairly straightforward to prepare, especially of medium and dark brown tobacco. The tobacco would actually be suitable for every occasion and even beginners due to its moderate strength, but you should be careful when smoking so that the tobacco does not tingle on the tongue. Although the Red Blend 131 delivers a clear aroma that is reminiscent of whisky liqueur, the mixture is not too sweet, so that you can also taste the basic tobacco with its hay-like, earthy and malty notes, which enriches the overall impression. So the Red Blend 131 can also be tried by lovers of natural tobacco, in order to be convinced of the advantages of an aromatic.
