Manufacturer Description:
Royal Albert is a well-balanced pipe tobacco with a mooth and exquisite blend of three different Virginias sweetish Black Cavendish and fragrant Burley. To optimize the blend, Royal Albert is accentuated with a lovely aroma of orange and honey, with an added touch of the all-time favourite, vanilla flavour. Absolutely delicious!
Characterisation:
The Royal Albert is a colourful mixture of different tobaccos from bright to dark brown. The cut is small to medium and mostly short threaded. The smell is pleasing as slightly flavoured tobacco. Orange and vanilla are discreet noticeable, but the smell of pure tobacco is definitely too. The tobacco is smooth and with an optimal humidity.
Plugging:
The tobacco could be plugged easily with the smoker’s favourite method for mixtures. Due to the different cuts it could be plugged a little bit more compact.
Light up:
The Royal Albert could be light up without any problems with one flame. It rather doesn’t tend to straighten up and it’s enough to flatten once with the tamper.
Smoking properties:
The tobacco does definitely evince the Virginia. The aromas are rounding the taste to a pleasing sweetness. Thereby none of the aromas is dominating. A light taste of fruit, discreet vanilla and tobacco are rather equal. While glowing down some attention to the temperature is recommended, because the Virginia tends to get a little bit acidly if smoked too hot. Otherwise the tobacco glows down constant and with less condensate to a balance of medium grey ash.
Redolency:
The combination of the aromas results in a fruity-sweet Redolence, which is due to the also noticeable pure tobacco pleasurable unobtrusive. Vanilla comes a little bit more to the fore, but this tobacco is not highly aromatic.
Conclusion:
The Royal Albert is a coloured, well-balanced mixture of the used tobaccos and well-dosed aromas. Taste and redolence of this combination is pleasing and unobtrusive. Handling is easy and needs only a little bit attention related to the temperature. Smoked slowly the Royal Albert glows down constant and with less condensate. The aroma is rather equal until the end, whereby in the last quarter the tobacco increase a little bit. The pleasing redolence suites this tobacco as an “all-days-smoke” and it’s recommended for beginners as well as passionate smokers, who like slightly flavoured tobaccos.
