Manufacturer Description:
Already the name suggests that only superb tobacco leaves are used. Base is dark red Virginia tobacco from North Carolina. During multiple processes the tobacco is cut, pressed and stored, then again the tobacco is cut, pressed and stored again, then cross-cut cutted. At the end the mixture is roasted to highlight the special effects and the smoky flavor that will offer you more than any other tobacco. Very cool smoke - of "hearty" nature. Please enjoy slowly.
Characterisation:
The Red Virginia is a uniformly reddish to medium brown ready rubbed acting quite damp and somewhat sticky. Longer air drying is recommended before smoking. Striking is the intense aroma of ripe plums and raisins, which originates according to the manufacturer rather than of flavors, but from the quality of used Virginias.
Plugging:
The Red Virginia must be plugged carefully not too tight and not too loose, because it tends to rise under the flame and when the filling is possible that burning crumbs trickle over the pipe edge, which can be not only annoying, but also is dangerous. Even the tobacco can extinguish in between, but this is what you get to grips with a little practice.
Light up:
As well as the plugging the Red Virginia requires some attention when lighting. Among the flame, the tobacco fibers rise, so they should be pushed back gently with the tamper before you give fire again. Attention should be put on a uniform glow to produce, so that the tobacco in between does not go out.
Smoking properties:
The Red Virginia tingles on the tongue and reminds that it wants to be smoked attentive, which also acts contrary to the inclination of gargling. Smoked this way it reveals spicy and smoky flavors. The raisins audible in the scent are to taste as a pleasant sweetness in the smoke. The remaining ash is medium gray with few unburnt residues and the resulting condensate is easy to clean.
Redolency:
The room touch of Red Virginia tobacco is genuine and weak sweet, so it should not necessarily be bothersome in smoking tolerant society.
Conclusion:
The Red Virginia is a red-brown ready rubbed Virginia, which requires some care, both the plugging and the lighting, and also when smoked attention is required. But then it has balanced flavors between smoky notes and the sweetness of dried fruit, such as raisins and prunes. So in spite of its average strength, it is suitable due to its demanding nature, especially for more experienced smokers or lovers of Virgina who are willing to engage in tobacco and learn.
