Manufacturer Description:
A spicy Black Cavendish with soft Burley and sweet Virginia. In the Colts American Mixture a spicy Black Cavendish gets refined with soft Burley and sweet Virginia with fruity aromas such as nougat and vanilla. An interesting pipe tobacco that appeals to younger and unconventional pipe smokers due to its very attractive price, excellent quality and fruity flavoring. Colts is easy to smoke and is therefore very suitable for beginners.
Characterisation:
The American Mixture comes in a high alu-lined cardboard tube with plastic and tear-open lid. So as with the version in the pouch, you should fill the tobacco in an airtight sealable container, if you want to store it longer. The Mixture is uniformly composed of black, medium and light brown tobacco fibers that are curly, medium-long and -wide cut. The scent is dark and fruity-sweet and unlike many flavored tobaccos, the moisture content is not too high.
Plugging:
The American Mixture can be plugged very easily alike with loose Mixtures. At the same time you can proceed a little firmer, as this creates a better puffing.
Light up:
After the first flame, gently use the tamper to smoothen the surface and then re-ignite evenly to achieve a uniform glow until the end of the filling.
Smoking properties:
The American Mixture is pleasantly spicy and superficially does not look like a flavored tobacco. In addition to the tobacco spice is discernible a fine smoky note in which mixes a flowery-soft sweetness. These, which can probably be attributed to the aroma, combines very pleasant with the basic tobacco and never appears obtrusive, but ensures a mild smoke. This will last until the last third of the filling, before the base tobaccos emerge spicier. The burn of the American Mixture is calm and leaves as discreet medium gray ash and hardly any condensate.
Redolency:
The redolency of the American Mixture is for tobacco, with a slightly sweetish aroma, so that it could be tolerated in tolerant society.
Conclusion:
The American Mixture, which is evenly mixed in all shades of brown, is fragrant, but not intrusive, and so is the taste. In addition to a fine tobacco flavor, which carries quite smoky features, the aroma plays mitigating. This reminds superficially not to typical vanilla aromas or familiar chocolate notes, but harmonizes fine sweet and rather flowery with the basic tobacco and thus acts supportive and rounding off. This makes the American Mixture a tobacco for anyone who is not completely opposed to flavors.
