Manufacturer Description:
A relatively new blend developed by Samuel Gawith to satisfy the need of a local, well known pipe-smoker who could not find a tobacco to suit his palate, even in London! We were able to meet the definitive requirements of this dedicated smoker by blending a variety of brown and bright Virginias with a touch of Latakia, steaming, flavouring with a hint of Vanilla and adding a fine Turkish leaf. The verdict of the smoker? "Perfection!"
Characterisation:
The Perfection is a mixture of medium to dark brown and black, varying in length and width cut tobaccos. By opening the tin immediately an intense spicy smell spreads that is typical of Latakia with Orient. A closer you can smell the subtle but very distinct vanilla aroma. The tobacco feels soft but not too moist.

The Perfection can be easily stuffed by the preferred method of the smoker. Due to the different types of cutting one can hardly run the risk of stuffing too tightly.

Smoking properties:
The Perfection should be smoked cool and carefully. The Virginia develops a light, fresh tingling sensation on the tongue that’ll quickly turn to bite on the tongue if the temperature is too high! The spicy tobaccos, Latakia and Oriental, complete the taste to a not too strong English mixture. Thereby the vanilla flavour is felt as a subtle sweetness, the often intense, typical taste of vanilla is missing. Burning down is even with less condensate. The residual ash is light grey with a few darker parts.
Redolency:
The redolence is typical "English"! The spicy tobaccos displace nearly every other smell, but they are so well coordinated with the Virginia, that the smell is not pushy. There is also a slight sweetness that comes from vanilla. Among peers, the redolence would be welcome and demand will rise - in most other societies, it’ll probably not be so welcome ...
Conclusion:
The Perfection is an easy-flavoured, English mixture of several Virginia, Latakia and Turkish Orient. The variety of tobaccos are accordingly reflected again in the different cut types. The clearly English direction of the tobacco is complemented by a subtle vanilla flavour. The handling and smoke properties are easy if you pay attention to the temperature. The Perfection is well suited for entry into the world of English blends, but it’s also recommended for the experienced smoker.
