Manufacturer Description:
Especially for whisky lovers. An English Type Mixture with full flavor, rounded off with a dash of Original Scotch Whisky. Thanks to "Ready Cut" already loosened up for the pipe.
Characterisation:
In the pouch is the Mixture No. 5 good to be packed on the go. If you open the packaging so you sniff the hay aroma of tobacco and a light alcoholic sweetness reminiscent of whisky. The tobacco fibers of the so-called Ready Cut are predominantly medium and light brown, under which mix some dark brown fibers. Above all, there is to see a wider cut, but sometimes also almost square flakes and occasional Ready Rubbed pieces. The Mixture No. 5 has a balanced moisture content and can be plugged immediately from the pouch.
Plugging:
The differently cut components of Mixture No. 5 does not complicate the plugging very much. As with other loose Mixtures, you start loosely down and tighter with light pressure, resulting in a consistent burning.
Light up:
Also the light up of Mixture No. 5 does not cause big problems. If, after the first flame, you smoothen the surface sensitively with the tamper and evenly give fire again, there iss nothing to prevent the way of a quiet burning.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of Mixture No. 5 is tobacco-spicy and has the typical Virginia roasted aromas, a light smokiness and nutty notes. This harmonizes beautifully with the aroma, which is present, but rather keeps in the background and serves more to support the natural flavors. The fine, juicy sweetness, which also transports nutty and roasted aromas, is actually reminiscent of mild scotch. This aroma lasts until the last third of the filling, before the basic tobaccos gets a little tart and then the pipe goes out after an even burning. Only a little medium gray ash is left to clean, and just little condensate for a flavored tobacco.
Redolency:
The redolence of Mixture No. 5 is tobacco. The sweet aroma is to smell only weakly, so it depends on the tolerance of society,if you want to smoke this tobacco among non-smokers.
Conclusion:
Despite the interesting view of the cut, the so-called Ready Cut with tobacco flakes and Ready Rubbed-pieces, the predominantly lighter brown Mixture No. 5 is also suitable for beginners due to its easy handling. The moderate strength and the pleasant smoking behavior not only pleases beginners, too. Especially since the aroma of the Mixture No. 5 is less superimposing than supporting the natural nutty and toasted bread flavors of the basic tobaccos. In fact, there are associations with a mild Scotch and who likes can quite enjoy the tobacco with such a drink. But also for a pipe in between is the Mixture No. 5 quite suitable.
