Ashton The Virgin Sun Grown was launched in November 1999 and was the most successful product release in Ashton’s history. »Sun for the palate« aptly describes this series — and it’s meant literally. Only leaves from the upper primings are selected for this line; in other words, leaves that have received the most sunlight, giving them incredible power. The blend was created by none other than Carlos Fuente Jr., who assembled four- to five-year-aged Dominican tobaccos for the VSG. The wrapper comes from Ecuador and is grown exclusively for the VSG series. The result is a perfect harmony of complexity and character — or as the Dominicans would say: »Muy delicioso«! This award-winning line has received multiple accolades, including the Cigar Trophy (as Best Cigar from the Dominican Republic) and repeated “Brilliant” ratings. The Cigar Journal wrote: »Anyone looking for full-bodied cigars and an intoxicating taste experience with a complex, long finish will find exactly that in the Ashton VSG. (…) It is a flawless cigar that displays a peacock’s tail of taste on the palate.« As is often the case in life, the true treasures only reveal themselves when one dares to look beyond the obvious; otherwise, one might miss out on a delicacy like the Ashton VSG. And that would be a shame! Taste: »Sun for the palate!« A complex bouquet with plenty of black pepper and a delicate natural sweetness of chocolate and dried fruit. The creamy smoke of this powerful cigar is accompanied by notes of freshly roasted Arabica coffee.
