Amundsen was one of the most successful explorers to have ever lived. He was born in Norway in 1872 and his original plan was to conquer the North Pole, but his plans changed when Peary succeeded before him. Great Explorer Scott
Bent
Robert Falcon Scott
Born in 1868. Robert Falcon Scott took part in his first seagoing expedition at the age of thirteen. In 1888 he met Clements Markham who considered him perfect for the Antarctic expedition he was planning. It was due to Markham that Scott was appointed head of the Discovery Expedition that lasted from 1901-1904. In 1910 Scott led a second expedition; however, it was troubled from the start, as it did not have enough financial backing. Although he did reach the South Pole the Amundsen and his Norwegian group hat got there before them.
