VAUEN 175 Years 542 9mm Filter

1901 the now world-famous company name VAUEN Vereinigte Pfeifenfabriken Nürnberg came about through a name change. Naturally, the new limited white dot series ‘175 years’ also bears the familiar ‘VAUEN’ logo on the stem.

Two incorporated decorative elements with a stylus engraving on the stem in connection with a sterling silver emblem inset into the mouthpiece with crossed pipes give this model a strong character.

This anniversary series comes in 6 different shapes in smooth and sandblasted versions. Like a treasure chest, the fine decorative packaging conceals both the limited white dot pipe and an additional surprise. A small decorative carton with 75 exclusive 9mm 175-year activated charcoal filters, including an anniversary imprint that is available only as part of this anniversary series.

1904 VAUEN won a gold medal at the St. Louis World’s Fair with their models. The sandblasted finish of the 175-year series has also earned a prize.

Besides the already elaborate, individual manual work steps of the white dot series ‘175 years’, the sandblasted version features a special type of wood refinement. By carefully highlighting the grain by means of sandblasting, and after the stain has been applied in combination with an additional treatment, a varied play of colours comes about.

The sandblasted finish, too, is offered in 6 different models with decorative packaging and the exclusive anniversary 9mm filters.

Full enjoyment from the very beginning

 VAUEN pipes don´t have to be slowly broken in over a long time because the wood is protected
by a special lining in the tobacco bowl.

Even by temperatures of 300 to 400°C, which occurs when lighting, cannot harm the pipe.

Achieve natural beauty

 To make a pipe even more beautiful, the grain of the pipe is taken into account during production.

There are two classic grain patterns:

the straight grain and the bird´s eye grain.

In order to achieve these, the raw briar blocks from which the pipe is created,
needs th be cut along the natural grain course.

Tip number 4

Sandblasting makes the most of the grain of the pipe

A pipe bowl which has a beautiful grain but with inherent imperfections is sandblasted.
In the process the softer parts of the surface are washed out the harder relief.

The advantages are, as with rusticated pipes, a greater ruggedness and a cooler smoking pleasure.
