CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
THE BATTLE OF TRAFALGAR

The Battle of Trafalgar, fought on 21 October 1805 of the Spanish coast near Cadiz, was the most significant naval battle of the 19th century.
Upon the signal from Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson`s flagship HMS Victory that “England expects every man will do his duty”, the Royal British fleet with 27 ships on the line engaged with the combined French-Spanish fleet of 33 ships under Admiral Pierre de Villeneuve.

In the course of the battle, the allies lost 22 ships, while the Royal navy lost none. The British lost 449 men and 1214 were wounded, while the allies` casualties amounted to 4480 dead, 2250 wounded and 7000 captured.

The British victory not only spectacularly confirmed Britain as the dominant world naval power for the next 100 years, it also made an end to the Napoleonic threat of invasion.

Admiral Nelson died during the battle and his sarcophagus rests in London`s St. Paul`s Cathedral. He is remembered as Britain`s greatest naval hero and London`s famous Trafalgar Square was named after the battle with Nelson`s statue towering high over the square.

The 104-gun ship HMS Victory, built 1758-1765, was in active service until 1812 and is still in commission, as the flagship of the Royal Navy`s Second Sea Lord, where she can be visited at Portsmouth Dockyard. She is the only surviving three-decker in the world and was restored to her `fighting´condition.

THE LIMITED EDITION PIPE `BATTLE of TRAFALGAR´
