Germany has always been the most important market for the Danish brand Stanwell. From the very beginning, German pipe smokers have had a particular connection with the brand.

The foundation for this was laid by founder Poul Nielsen as early as 1946, when he set out on new paths. He relied on the expertise of local pipe makers, above all Sixten Ivarsson, and gave them the greatest possible freedom to reinterpret classic English pipe shapes. Through small, subtle modifications, a completely new and distinctive design language emerged. The so-called Danish Design was born and began its journey to conquer the world.

Many Stanwell models still enjoy cult status to this day. Over the decades, this has resulted in an extensive portfolio of iconic shapes. While smaller pipes are particularly popular in the Danish home market, Stanwell also adapts its models to the needs of different markets. In Germany, for example, larger bowls suitable for 9 mm filters have always been particularly popular.
