Cohiba Ambar Cohiba is undoubtedly a very special cigar brand. Its history is unique in every way, and entire books have been written about it. It was created in 1966 specifically for President Fidel Castro and produced in the then top-secret, now world-famous El Laguito factory. Besides being used by the Cuban leadership, Cohibas were exclusively representative gifts for heads of state and diplomats. Since 1982, cigars of the "Cohiba" brand have also been available on the open market in limited quantities. Cohiba is an ancient word of the Tainos for the bundles of tobacco leaves that were smoked by these indigenous inhabitants of Cuba. Today, there are four different lines of the Cohiba brand. The oldest is the Línea Clásica, which includes the three classic vitolas that the brand originally consisted of: Laguito No.1, better known by its sales name "Lanceros," the Laguito No.2 as "Coronas Especiales," and the Laguito No.3, whose vitola de salida was called "Panetelas." Now, for the 55th anniversary of the top Habanos brand, comes the new COHIBA AMBAR. A new format with the production name "Placeres" was developed for this. It has a length of 132 mm and a large ring gauge of 53. It is the first new Habano to join the "Línea Clásica" since 1989 and will henceforth be the cigar with the largest diameter in Cohiba's standard range. For its tobacco blend, a selection of the finest tobaccos from the best tobacco plantations in San Juan y Martínez and San Luis in the Vuelta Abajo region of Pinar del Rio province is used. Cohiba Ambar comes to market in the brand-typically lacquered boxes. They contain ten cigars each.
