The No. 1 in the BULLDOG series. A mixture of best light-golden Virginia, Dark Virginia, deep brown Kentucky and a trace Latakia. High-aromatic Flake Scraps according to Irish tradition, moderately added, give it a pleasing aroma, without falsifying the tobacco character. The relatively short cut ensures slow burning with cool smoke. Aromatic-spicy scent.
The Medium Strenght is packed in a round tin in a paper rosette. When opened, the nose is accompanied by an almost alcoholic sweet apricot, from which spicy cloves and anisearomas are stuck. The tobacco itself is composed of equal parts of light, medium and dark brown leaves, which is less reminiscent of a mixture of different components, but a loose cut. The Medium Strength is tightly pressed into the tin, which gives a first impression of stickiness, but this is deceptive, as the tobacco feels pleasantly dry when loosening between the fingers.
As a loose cut the Medium Strength is filled loosely down at the bottom and gently getting tighter upwards into the pipe. You do not need to pay more attention.
As with the plugging, the Medium Strength is straightforward and requires only one flame, for an even and constant glow.
The Medium Strenght acts in the smoke more vigorously, as medium strong, which could deter beginners once. The strength is not in the nicotine, but in the spiciness of the tobacco, especially the Kentucky, which can be tingling in the nose. The Latakia accompanies smoking as a smoky and slightly ethereal note and enriches is the whole with the typical Irish flavor, which can be described as warm and flowery. Whether this is due to a flavor or special tobaccos, the manufacturer remains vague. All in all a fine balanced and uncomplicated smoking mixture. Even the remaining fine pale ashes and the absence of condensation do not make any work.
The redolency of the Medium Strenght is for tobacco and somewhat pleasingly than Latakia tobaccos, but non-smokers might feel disturbed, making this tobacco particularly suitable for smoking societies or fresh air.
The Medium Strenght is a Mixture in all shades of brown, the flake ingredients are fitting into the image of a Loose Cut because of the missing "adhesives". In the smell you can see no Latakia, rather it is sweetish after dreid fruits and reveals the contained Kentucky with its components of cloves and anise. If one does not know Kentucky yet, its flavor, which can be clearly felt on the tongue and nose, gives the impression of strong tobacco. The nicotine content, however, remains in the middle and the spicy smoke is rounded off by gently ethereal Latakia notes and the typical floral taste of Irish tobacco blends. Not many tobaccos combine as interesting components as spicy Kentucky, incense-like Latakia and Irish flavors, so you should have tried the Medium Strenght once. Its simple behavior in preparation as well as in smoking makes the Medium Strenght also suitable for beginners who can not be deterred by more spicy tobaccos.
