Fire cured Virginia and Kentucky tobaccos, a good portion of Cypriot Latakias and some Black Cavendish, characterize the Fayyum. Fayyum, a full English blend stands out by balanced but distinctive flavors. A highlight for friends of full, outstanding and natural Mixtures.
The Collaboration Fayyum is in good hands to be stored longer in its round box with pressure lid and additional plastic lid. According to the tobaccos contained, you will find mainly black and dark brown medium-long and wide-cut tobacco fibers as well as Ready Rubbed bits. The contained Latakia also reveals itself in the sweetish, smoky fragrance. The tobacco may appear slightly damp between the fingers, which is why it can be pre-dried for about one hour before being stuffed.
Since the Collaboration Fayyum rises due to the greater moisture content during lighting, you should pay attention to this already while stuffing, plug the tobacco as usual - down loose, above solid -, but be careful not to make the pipe too full. Anyone who gets along well with stronger tobaccos can also choose a bigger pipe.
The already mentioned tendency to rise under the flame makes it sometimes necessary to fire up to three times and in between smoothen the surface gently but thoroughly with the tamper. However, if it has been possible to create an uniform glow - and with a little practice it becomes easier - the Collaboration Fayyum is completely uncomplicated in the further course of the smoke.
The more demanding preparations are well worth it. Already with the first puffs you can taste, that the Collaboration Fayyum is not just a simple English Mixture. The tobacco offers a broad and differentiated spectrum of taste. So the sweetness of the Black Cavendish keeps in the background and also the Latakia accustomed ethereal notes are rather discreetly pronounced. The tobacco itself is full, but not burdensome - it is rather the strong flavors that prevails the smoking through their dominance. In addition to Virginia flavors, which are reminiscent of strong sourdough bread, especially spicy Latakia and Kentucky are to taste. The latter is probably also attributable to a clear appeal to leather, as it is with some good cigar, but without acting cigar-like. The burning is uncomplicated after the more elaborate preparation and so only a little light ash and a little condensate remain in the pipe.
As expected with a Latakia-containing Mixture, the scent of the Collaboration Fayyum is strong, and not necessarily that which meets with acceptance in non-smoking society, so that one should behave accordingly considerately.
The Collaboration Fayyum is due to its strong aroma as well as the more elaborate preparation rather to advanced smokers, even if the other smoking behavior is completely uncomplicated. The tobacco is less of a classic English blend, but characterized by spicy Kentucky and a rather tart Latakia, wich the Virginia and Cavendish contribute gently softening sourdough bread notes and a fine sweetness. Especially lovers of strong Mixtures and rather spicy Latakias, find in the Collaboration Fayyum a tobacco that forms especially for the later hours of the day or to conclude a sumptuous meal.
