Manufacturer Description:
More than 150 years of experience in the production of pipe tobaccos are the hallmarks of Amphora Virginia. This blend consists only of Virginia tobaccos, which come from three continents. The result is a perfectly rounded pipe tobacco.
Amphora Virginia is a blend cut of Ready Rubbed tobacco. Noble, selected Virginia tobaccos from South America, Africa and the Far East are united.
Amphora Virginia is a balanced and soft mixture with an incomparable, natural-sweet taste. Amphora Virginia is enjoyed by lovers all over the world.
Characterisation:
The Amphora Virginia is a longer-cut Ready Rubbed in the color spectrum between light and dark brown. Since the tobacco is a Ready Rubbed, the humidity of the Amphora Virginia is quite good, the storage in the pouch is not recommended however and the tobacco should be stored airtight. The scent of Amphora Virginia is "green" for grass and moss, but also a warmer note of hay is to sniff.
Plugging:
The Amphora Virginia needs due to its coarser structure care when plugging, as otherwise the pipe will not develop a right puffing. With some practice, however, this is always getting better.
Light up:
Carefully stuffed, the Amphora Virginia burns down after one to two flames and a gentle smoothing of the embers without further complications.
Smoking properties:
The Amphora Virginia tastes mild-spicy with a distinct roasted note. As promised by the manufacturer there is to taste a fine sweetness reminding of dry fruits. If the pipe is kept cool, a subtle flowery taste occurs, but the tobacco is also able to tolerate it when the puffing is too violent sometimes, which is unusual for a pure Virginia. Apart from an occasional tamping, the Amphora Virginia smokes uncomplicatedly, then medium gray ash and little condensation remains in the pipe.
Redolency:
The Amphora Virginia with its sweetish note reminds non-smokers of "typical pipe smell" in the air, which is why it is quite suitable for society.
Conclusion:
The Amphora Virginia is a Ready Rubbed in all shades of brown, whose sweet hay smell is also found in the taste. The tobacco supplies the expected roasted notes from a typical Virginia and a fine sweetness. If you take Amphora Virginia with some care and does not mind to have to use the tamper occasionally, the tobacco offers an uncomplicated, quiet smoke without overpowering, so that the Amphora Virginia for each time of the day (and of course also the evening) is suitable.
