Manufacturer Description:
Virginia tobaccos of different shades and cut widths, delicately rounded off with Black Cavendish and a hint of Burley. Fruit aromas of juicy orange and sweet peach give this mixture its delicious taste. An extremely gentle, excellent tobacco blend with a perfect burn.
Characterisation:
Auenland – The Shire is a blend of light, fawn and black-brown, curly tobacco fibers that are cut wide and short. The scent is sweet and creamy and less reminiscent of tropical fruits than juicy berries. Between the fingers, the tobacco looks damp and a bit sticky, so that it can be pre-dried for one hour before plugging.
Plugging:
Auenland – The Shire should be plugged with sensitivity. In order to get a good puffing, one should take care not to bring the tobacco too tight into in the pipe, even if you have to refill now and then during smoking, from time to time. It takes only a little practice and this procedure succeeds without further problems.
Light up:
After two flames burns Auenland – The Shire evenly, but you should be careful when smoothing the filling not to press the tobacco too tight, so it has room to unfold.
Smoking properties:
The more elaborate preparations are rewarded with a mild spicy smoke. The basic tobaccos are clearly to taste as nutty and reminiscent of rye bread flavors. However, the used aroma is always present and continues until the end of the filling. The intense, sweet and juicy fruit note, which mainly tastes of the peach aroma, is represented above all by the nose. If you occasionally plug gently so that the embers keep contact with the tobacco, then the Auenland – The Shire burns down quietly and leaves only fine, light ash and almost no condensate.
Redolency:
The scent of Auenland – The Shire is clearly sweet, characterized by the used flavor and is perceived by non-smokers as a "typical pipe scent" and tolerated accordingly.
Conclusion:
Auenland – The Shire is a brownshaded, curly Mixture that requires a bit of sensitivity when plugged and is not aimed at absolute beginners. Otherwise, the medium-strength tobacco, apart from occasional plugging, rather uncomplicated and knows especially to convince by its clear and long-lasting aroma. So if you're looking for a good flavored tobacco that even leaves room for the natural flavors of the used basic tobaccos, will find Auenland – The Shire a tobacco for every moment of the day.
