Manufacturer Description:
Blended, air-cured Golden Virginias, pressed and matured. Cut to from a broken flake which offers a natural sweetness. Medium strength.
Characterisation:
The Golden Glow is shown as a rough tobacco with medium brown colour. It looks as if a flake is only slightly torn into pieces and rubbed off easy. By opening the tin one can remark a mix of sweet and fresh smell of matured Virginia. The coarse tobacco pieces are a dampish and very supple.
Plugging:
To plug the Golden Glow it must be a little bit prepared. Therefore one can either rub off the coarse pieces between the fingers and plug as a Mixture or one turn it to loose balls, then stuffing airy in the tobacco chamber. As top layer, one can take a few crumbs of tobacco from the tin in order to facilitate the lighting a bit. For this tobacco one should make sure to fill even to guarantee an equal burn.
Light up:
To light up the Golden Glow a little more patience is needed! Carefully stuffed and with a few crumbs of tobacco on top one should first light coverage with one flame. Then wait a minute, level the first layer of ash with the tamper and relight. The tobacco tends to straighten up something and by the rough cut to uneven combustion, what could be avoided by this method.
Smoking properties:
Once properly ignited the Golden Glow glows evenly and slowly. As with most Virginias one have to take care to the temperature, otherwise the tobacco is rather good-natured. The ashes should be slightly pressed down more often, because the bigger pieces tobacco collapse after burning down. The Golden Glow develops a slightly sweet taste of matured Virginia and shows a medium strength. Thereby it hardly develops condensate. The residual ash is medium grey with a few larger pieces.
Redolency:
The redolence is subtly sweet from Virginia and the rather mild tobacco smoke makes the Golden Glow appear unremarkable. The tobacco is therefore suitable for any occasion, where smoking is permitted.
Conclusion:
The Golden Glow is a coarse, medium brown tobacco, where one sees that it has been broken out of a flake. After the somewhat more elaborate plugging burning down is even with less condensate. As with almost every Virginia one have to take care that the tobacco isn’t smoked too hot. The taste and redolence are dominated by the subtle sweetness of matured Virginias what makes the tobacco for both smokers and society unobtrusive. The Golden Glow is suitable for beginners who want to try even a genuine Virginia, as well as advanced smokers who’ll appreciate its medium strength.
