Characterisation:
The Three Nuns - Yellow is made of medium sized Curlies, meaning that thin slices were cut from a round, rolled tobacco rod. These are predominantly medium brown in cross section, but also have dark brown parts and yellow inclusions. Naturally, some of the Curlies separate individual fibers at the edges, so that they mix with the Curlies. However, since the tobacco has been pressed quite firmly into the tin, most Curlies are obtained and can be removed as such. The scent sweetly reminds of raisins and fresh white bread. The tobacco could be slightly more elastic, but is not too dry.
Plugging:
Curlies, like the Three Nuns - Yellow invite you to experiment. However, the unusual shape requires some experience, so that you do not overload the pipe, as Curlies, like any pressed tobacco tend to rise under the flame, but you should not go too loose, otherwise there is no good puffing – so practice makes perfect. If you take this into account, you can grind the Three Nuns - Yellow into a Ready Rubbed, roll small balls out of the individual Curlies, or bend and fold the slices before giving them into the pipe. The personal taste here is unlimited.
Light up:
Despite the rather dry consistency, the Three Nuns - Yellow needs up to three flames to burn evenly. The surface should be straightened every time gently with the tamper, then you reach a reliable embers.
Smoking properties:
The Three Nuns - Yellow is a pure Virginia, but without the usual ticks, like tongue burning and gargling. Straightforward, it offers the expected flavors. First of all, it tastes smoky, and then, with deliberate puffing, a mild spiciness sets in, which is differentiated into distinct roasted notes and bread aromas. Once the more elaborate preparations have been made, the Three Nuns - Yellow burns down quietly, leaving only some ashes of medium gray and virtually no condensate, making cleaning extremely easy.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Three Nuns - Yellow is for pure tobacco, but not intrusive, so that society that tolerates smokers should not feel disturbed.
Conclusion:
As a Curlie-Cut, the Three Nuns - Yellow offers the nostalgia of a traditional tobacco form and the potential for experimentation - but this has the price to pay for the smoker in a bit of attention in the preparation. The smoking is then without problems and rewarded with an equally uncomplicated and direct tobacco enjoyment. From a Virginia, the lover expects a smoky spiciness, bread and roasted aromas and that's what the Three Nuns - Yellow also delivers, but without the problems that pure Virginias often do ...!
