Manufacturer Description:
TAB No 6 Crusted Blend - Autumn/winter has the aroma of a caramelised créme brûlée: This new tobacco speciality is particularly mild and excellent. The blend of double fermented Black Cavendish, Virginia from various provenances, Burley and medium loose cuts is enhanced with the creamy and sweet aromas of vanilla, nut and crème brûlée. The different cuts of the tobacco help to achieve an even and cool burning.
Characterisation:
When the tin of No 6 Crusted Blend is opened, a caramel-sweet fragrance flows into the nose, in which vanilla notes are mixed, so that the impression of crème brûlée is actually created. The cut is wide and long, but mostly bright individual flakes can also be found. In terms of color, the light and medium brown tobaccos dominate, including a good proportion of black-brown Black Cavendish. As with many flavored tobacco, it is advisable with the No 6 Crusted Blend to let the tobacco dry at least briefly before plugging, as this has a positive effect on the burning process.
Plugging:
The wide and different cuts of the No 6 Crusted Blend hardly cause any problems when plugging. It is sufficient to bring the tobacco into the pipe more loosely at the bottom than at the top in order to achieve an even burning.
Light up:
Pre-dried, the No 6 Crusted Blend can easily be ignited. The broad fibers straighten up a little under the first flame, but can be easily pushed down again with the tamper so that you can light the fire again. If you make sure that you do this evenly, you get a constant glow that hardly goes out again.
Smoking properties:
The No 6 Crusted Blend is soft and mild, with a subtle sweetness. The vanilla and the slightly smoky caramel note are reminiscent of crème brûlée. Thanks to the nutty Burley, the nut aroma also fits well into this aroma spectrum. This creates an aromatic, harmonious overall picture. The No 6 Crusted Blend offers a quiet burning due to the wide cut, making it easy to keep the tobacco cool. Too hasty smoking is not conducive to the aroma, but the No 6 Crusted Blend is not biting, as is sometimes the case with flavored tobaccos. The best way to enjoy the tobacco is comfortably. The aroma also lasts up to the last third of the filling. After that the No 6 Crusted Blend leaves only a little condensate in the pipe, which together with the medium gray ash does little work when cleaning.
Redolency:
The smoke of the No 6 Crusted Blend is sweet and vanilla with the aroma of crème brûlée. As a result, the tobacco can be well received in society.
Conclusion:
Despite the varying cutting widths of the No 6 Crusted Blend, the light, medium and dark brown tobacco is relatively easy to plug and ignite. The mild smoke also makes the tobacco suitable for beginners, provided that the tobacco can be comfortably smoked. The unusual aroma is definitely worth it, because the combination of vanilla, caramel and nut actually gives the impression of a crème brûlée. It is up to each smoker whether this special aroma is suitable for any occasion. But just after a meal enjoyed as a "dessert", the tobacco will also taste more experienced smokers, provided they appreciate strongly flavored tobaccos.
