Although Montecristo is not one of the oldest Habanos brands, it is arguably the most famous and likely the most popular worldwide. It sets the standard by which many Habanos smokers judge other brands. The brand is said to have received its name because the torcedores at the H. Upmann factory, where Montecristo was founded around 1935, had a fondness for the famous novel The Count of Monte Cristo by the French author Alexandre Dumas.
Today, the brand offers a diverse selection of fine cigars and cigarillos, all of which share the classic and distinctive Montecristo flavor. The perfectly balanced, medium to full-bodied Montecristo blends are made from select leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region, home to some of the finest tobacco in the world.
After the overwhelming success of the Cohiba Short, which was launched in 2016, another Short offering from a legendary Cuban top brand followed in 2020: the Montecristo Short. The blend used for its filler is the same signature blend that has already proven to be highly successful worldwide in the Montecristo Mini and Club cigars.
For the first time, a Chinese zodiac sign serves as the inspiration for an exclusive edition of the Cuban top brand Montecristo. Presented in a meticulously lacquered, elegant wooden box lined with cedar, only for a limited time, are 66 Montecristo Short Year-of-the-Rabbit Edición Limitada 2023.
