Manufacturer Description:
Wildcut blend of sweet ready rubbed Virginia Mysore, mature African Virginia midsection and Black Cavendish. Finished with a top flavor of sweet-fruity berries and a hint of almond amaretto.
Characterisation:
The small round can is closed with an pull-off lid, which can be practically resealed by a supplied plastic lid. Opened a sweet-fruity scent of apricot jam and marzipan stollen comes out of the tin; any tobacco is not to sniff. The manufacturer speaks of a wild cut, but the tobacco fibers are quite long and interspersed with sometimes coarse ready rubbed pieces. The color ranges from very light to almost black dark brown. Pre-drying is not necessary due to the good consistency.
Plugging:
The long fibers of Amaberry can be rolled before the plugs to loose balls, then later they will not trickle from the pipe. So you can begin loose in the tobacco chamber below, becoming fixed getting up.
Light up:
The coarser fractions in Amaberry can make an occasional tamping required, but if you consider this the filling is burning within one to two flames very evenly.
Smoking properties:
The Amaberry burns with a dense smoke which carries the aroma of amaretto and berries very lifelike. A liqueur-like sweetness caresses the palate and fills nearly every tasting bud while red berries with their juicy freshness mitigate the sweetness that would be almost too intense otherwise. The Amaberry is a real aromatic, it wants not to be something else. But the finely balanced, complementary flavors avoid that the flavor becomes too strong, too intrusive. In addition, the flavor remains over almost the entire filling, which indicates clearly to the quality of this mixture. A slight sharpness only appears if you try to taste the flavor too greedy, which is not necessary! Mid-gray ash with a few unburned tobaccocrumbs and for an aromatic a little condensate makes the cleaning thoroughly pleasant.
Redolency:
The room note of Amaberry is sweet and intense and could even be perceived as quite pleasant in society which is tolerant to pipesmokers.
Conclusion:
The Amaberry is a mixture of predominantly long tobacco fibers and slightly irregular ready rubbed. From very light brown to almost black all colors are represented. The fragrance reveals at once the strong flavored tobacco and so it is also in the smoke: Amaretto and wild berries. This flavor is transferred very convincing in the smoke; full-bodied, creamy and sweet, the flavors subtle harmony. Anyone looking for a flawless aromatics, something "sweet" for in-between times or a tasty dessert tobacco, can - also because of its simplicity - only get happy with the Amaberry.
