Characterisation:
Kendal Gold is packaged in a rectangular tin and additionally sealed with a plastic band. The cover paper sheet has a view of the factory. Wrapped in wax paper and pressed tightly into it, a fine, curly cut of golden yellow and brown appears. The mildly sweet hay scent is also somewhat reminiscent of loose cigarette tobacco. The careful packaging has retained some residual moisture, so the Kendal Gold should be allowed to dry briefly.
Plugging:
Although the Kendal Gold is a frizzy cut, if you don't choose a pipe that is too small, it is easy to plug. Just remember to start loosely at the bottom and gradually tighten up towards the top.
Light up:
The curly fibers of Kendal Gold - if briefly pre-dried - quickly take on the flame. Then you can smooth the surface with the tamper before putting it on fire again.
Smoking properties:
The Kendal Gold appears completely different in smoke than its appearance or cold scent would suggest. In any case, it doesn't remember cigarettes. In fact, the Kendal Gold is smoky and spicy, with a woody, dry note. Surprising and something for lovers of strong tobaccos is a flavor component that is reminiscent of smoldering hay or hemp ropes. For a pure Virginia, the burning is very uncomplicated. Neither gargling nor tongue burn are to be feared, even if you become careless while smoking. Cleaning is just as easy. The Kendal Gold burns down until only some fine, light ash remains.
Redolency:
Since Kendal Gold is a natural and strong Virginia, non-smokers should be taken into consideration.
Conclusion:
The Kendal Gold is reminiscent of loose cigarette tobacco with its hay scent, golden brown color and frizzy cut. In terms of taste, however, it turns out to be an unusual Virginia. It is spicy, smoky, with a dry wood note, which at times is reminiscent of smoldering hay or hemp ropes. That doesn't necessarily make the Kendal Gold a run-of-the-mill tobacco, but it is so easy to smoke - for a pure Virginia - that lovers of this style and even ambitious beginners should hardly have any problems with it. You shouldn't expect much natural sweetness, but if you're looking for a strong and straightforward Virginia, you've come to the right place with Kendal Gold.
