Characterisation:
American BC is packaged in a rectangular container, which is also sealed with a plastic band. Inside, the tobacco is covered by cardboard that shows an engraving of the company's headquarters. If you pull apart the wax paper underneath, you will see a tightly pressed mixture of black and golden brown, curly fibers. The rising scent is reminiscent of berry-sweet cherries pickled with cinnamon. The careful packaging and dense tin filling has retained some moisture so that the tobacco can be allowed to pre-dry briefly.
Plugging:
Curly tobaccos like American BC require some attention when plugging. If you start loose at the bottom and end with light pressure at the top, you will achieve good filling - in a pipe that is not too small.
Light up:
Due to residual moisture and the curly fibers of the tobacco, it may take several flames until the American BC shows an even glow. In any case, after the first fire, you should smooth the surface with the tamper and be careful to create a good bed of embers.
Smoking properties:
The American BC immediately presents itself as a clearly flavored tobacco. But it doesn't taste excessive or even artificial. Virginia and Burley have a smoky and nutty presence - they are not overpowered by the casing. Nevertheless, it can be tasted consistently: juicy, sweet and intensely cherry-like. In combination with the basic tobaccos, the impression is of dark, toasted bread spread with a generous layer of jam. Blown through the nose, the smoke is also fresh and fruity. For this reason alone, the American BC deserves to be sipped comfortably. As with most flavored tobaccos, if you smoke too vigorously, the tobacco can burn your tongue a bit. The dark gray ash, on the other hand, requires little attention when cleaning.
Redolency:
The American BC's aroma is not only very pleasant when smoked, but also in the room. Non-smokers may be reminded of the “typical pipe scent” by the sweet cherries.
Conclusion:
The gold-black mixed, frizzy fibers of the American BC require some attention during preparation. And you shouldn't be too careless when smoking either. But the tobacco deserves this! Flavored tobaccos rarely manage to convey their casing so naturally. Juicy black cherries seem to be spread on toasted rustic bread. Basic tobacco and aroma combine here in the most excellent way, creating a successful combination of smokiness and sweetness. The American BC is expressly recommended for lovers of flavored mixtures and even those who are thinking about trying out a classic flavor will not make a mistake with this “cherry tobacco”.
