Characterisation:
Bob's CH Flake is wrapped in wax paper in the rectangular tin. The cardboard cover features an engraving of the old tobacco factory. The flakes underneath are cut narrow and thin. Yellow speckles are scattered across the dark and medium brown marbling. Bob's CH Flake, as stated by the manufacturer, has a vanilla-cocoa scent that is also slightly reminiscent of tonka bean. Because the flakes are elastic and have a balanced moisture content, so the tobacco can be given directly into the pipe.
Plugging:
The elastic slices of Bob's CH Flake can be easily bent and folded, allowing you to plug the tobacco in the traditional way. Of course, you can also grind the Bob's CH Flake into a ready-rubbed tobacco or balls. Just make sure the pipe isn't too small or packed too tightly.
Light up:
Compressed tobaccos tend to rise under the flame. Bob's CH Flake has only a slight tendency to do this. If you smooth it out with the tamper after the first flame, you can create an even glow with the second.
Smoking properties:
Bob's CH Flake combines two worlds of Latakia-based blends. On the one hand, it is smoky and spicy, robust and tart, while on the other, it offers ethereal, light incense aromas that lend the tobacco smoke a cooling effect. The toasted bread notes of the Virginia and nuances of leather harmonize well with this. The aroma used remains discreetly in the background. The burning is uncomplicated, leaving only a little light ash and hardly any condensate in the pipe.
Redolency:
Since Bob's CH Flake contains Latakia and is only lightly flavored, non-smokers should be considered.
Conclusion:
The dark, light-flecked slices of Bob's CH Flake exude an appetizing vanilla-cocoa scent, yet are rather subtly flavored. Instead, they combine the aroma spectrum of Latakia in an exceptional way. Rarely does one find an English blend that balances ethereal, cool incense with smoky spice. Toast and leather round out the impression. Bob's CH Flake is therefore more for lovers of natural English blends, albeit in traditional flake form, completely uncomplicated and not too strong. For smokers who are not entirely inexperienced with flakes, Bob's CH Flake is easy to prepare and smoke – at anytime.
