The outstanding feature is the expressive aroma, that will be achieved by a rather high amount of Cypriote Latakia beside Virginia, Black Cavendish and Orient. This tobacco is mellow, but nevertheless spicy-piquant and with good burning behavior.
Characterisation:
The Highland Targe is a mixture of different kinds of tobaccos from bright brown to black with a medium cut. The smell is spicy-piquant with a subliminal, unobtrusive sweetness. Latakia is definitely remarkable, but not dominating too much. The humidity of this tobacco is well conditioned.
Plugging:
This tobacco could be plugged easily with the favourite method of the smoker, but should not be plugged to compressed.
Light up:
Lighting up the Highland Targe is easy. One flame to light up, slightly damping with the tamper and a second flame to get a constant glow. The tendency to straighten up is low.
Smoking properties:
Already with the first draws the English character is obviously. Latakia and spicy Orient combine with the sweetish-piquant Virginia. Black Cavendish completes the taste and softens the spice and properties of the Latakia, so that a pleasing, unobtrusive taste occurs. With a little bit attention the Highland Targe could be smoked cool and tongue-friendly, but tends to get hot, if smoked to hastily, whereby a sourly, biting taste arise. Conclusion:
An interesting mixture of different tobaccos, which will over all combine to a spicy mixture with a definitely amount of Latakia and an alleviating, sweetish note. Good smoking properties and an easy handling, which will require a little bit attention in matters of hotness. A recommendation for enthusiasts of English mixtures with a good portion of Latakia. Medium in strength, but also suitable for changer. General beginners should try this tobacco carefully.
