Manufacturer Description:
Latakia, Orient and Virginia tobaccos are slightly toasted in a drying drum. The brighter tobaccos are optically dominating. Traditionally English – for a “mild” aromatic richness.

Characterisation:
The Standard Mixture Mellow is a yellow-red mixture with some dark brown parts of rather fine cut tobaccos. The smell identifies it definitely as an English mixture: Latakia and Orient are dominating but combine with a   native smell of tobacco, so that a rounded, unobtrusive impression results. The fresh tobacco feels mellow, but a little bit too dampish. 

Plugging:
The good cut quality makes it easy to plug this tobacco with the favourite method for mixtures. It should only be paid some attention to plug it not too compressed.

Light up:
The tobacco tends a little bit to straighten up. In spite of the dampness it could be light up well with 2 to 3 flames, but after dampened down with the tamper it may be necessary to light up again to get a constant glow.

Smoking  properties:
The Standard Mixture Mellow is easy to handle, whereby the rather hight amount of Virginia needs some attention in relation to the temperature. Immediately after light up the English character is dominating with the taste of Orient and Latakia. But they are well dosed and combine with the sweetness of the Virginia to a pleasing taste. The burning behavior is very good, whereby the tobacco doesn’t glows down very slow, but cool and without too much condensate. A balance of medium grey, fine ash remains.

Redolency:
The redolence is typically English too and can’t deny the amount of Latakia. Therefore the Standard Mixture Mellow is only suited for societies, who aren’t indisposed to the smell of spicy Orient and Latakia.

Conclusion:
The Standard Mixture Mellow is a light to medium English mixture of Virginia, Orient and Latakia. The spicy tobaccos are dominating, but will be rounded by the slightly sweetness of Virginia. The high amount of Virginia needs a little bit attention in relation to the temperature. Otherwise handling and burning down is without any problems, whereby the tobacco glows down a little bit faster as usual. The redolence is dominated by the spicy tobaccos, so this tobacco isn’t recommended for any surrounding. For enthusiasts of light tobaccos with Latakia the Standard Mixture Mellow is quite suited as an “all-days” smoke, in fact of it’s mildness it could be recommended beginners with that kind of tobaccos too.
