Manufacturer Description:
Golden, fully ripe Virginia tobaccos from the best growing areas of the USA are pressed into cakes of tobacco and mature over a longer period of time before they are cut into slices. Loosened by hand, the connoisseurs develop the fine nuances of tobacco flavors of a whole Mixture.
Characterisation:
The Orlik Golden Sliced is a long strip of flake in a tin or pouch, so it is up to the smoker to tear off the desired portion. The tobacco is marbled light and darker brown and speckled golden all over. The anise aroma that rises, reminiscent of licorice with a fruity, slightly citrus fresh element and the typical hay note of the Virginia. The flake is almost perfect in consistency and moisture - so you should not leave it open for too long, because it dries otherwise.
Plugging:
The manufacturer recommends in his description rubbing it into a mixture, but the Orlik Golden Sliced smoked can also be bent and folded if stuffed not too tight and if a wide pipe is used. Since the tobacco rears when lighting, you should bring it loosely in the pipe. Residues or crumbs of tobacco added to the filling on top allows an easy lighting.
Light up:
The lighting is trouble-free, because of the ideal moisture content of the flake. But it rears up a little. After the first ignition, the surface should therefore flattened slightly with the tamper and then light up again. Done so the Orlik Golden Sliced burns until the end.
Smoking properties:
The burning behavior of Orlik Golden Sliced is as easy as the lighting. It does not gargle and must´nt be lighted up again. Is it needful to light it up again however, because the tobacco is gone out, the flavor suffers a bit. But after a few sips it´ll be well again and should not have to tempt to smoke the flake too hot, so it does not go out - that does the tobacco not tolerate and it burns on the tongue. From the smelled licorice there is not much taste, the flavors are more typical for Virginia, hay and rye-bread, combined with gentle fruit sweetness that reminds of orange peel, initially rather soft, then becoming stronger, but never really strong and always pleasant: Very balanced, very round, without peaks. What remains is gray ash with a few darker portions. Cleaning is uncomplicated.
Redolency:
The room note of Orlik Golden Sliced is quite pleasant, fruity-sweet and will interfere in society hardly.
Conclusion:
The Orlik Golden Sliced is a marbled in all shades of brown flake with many golden speckles. Since it has been packed as a long flake band, the desired portion can be separated itself. Its scent of anise, licorice and citrus is appetising, but also leaves through the natural hay flavors of Virginia. This also applies to its taste - without disturbing peaks it combines sweet orange peel with the natural hay, slightly smoky notes of Virginia. Its balance, ease of use, its average strength and uncomplicated burning properties make it a good flake for beginners or more experienced smokers who are looking for an unpretentious smoking pleasure for every day.
