Manufacturer Description:
We have blended a carefully balanced selection of Kentucky & Flue Cured Virginias to produce this medium to strong flake. For the pipe-smoker who seeks a satisfying smoke, experience Bracken Flake, with it´s unique brought about by the application of a long-used flavour.
Characterisation:
The Bracken Flake lies in slices with the usual size, dark brown and somewhat irregular in thickness, in the rectangular tin. After opening the tin immediately exudes a dark, earthy smell, which is mixed with a perfume-like smell – similarly as soap. The slices feel supple and not too moist.
Plugging:
The Bracken Flake can either be rubbed-off between the fingers or stuffed as whole slices. Rubbed-off it could be plugged as a Mixture. Whole slices, once folded and then buckled, could be just as good stuffed, where you should fill the “plugs” with a loose rotational movement into the tobacco chamber. It must be taken to ensure that the tobacco is not stuffed too tightly, since it is after lighting a little expanding. As a final layer, it is appropriate to take some small crumbs of tobacco to facilitate the kindling.
Light up:
The Bracken Flake could be light up well with 1 or 2 flames. Thereby it nearly doesn’t tend to straighten up and glows immediately till to the end.
Smoking properties:
The Bracken Flake develops a rather soft-bodied taste of tobacco and an ill-defined, slightly fruity aroma. The aftertaste is chocolatey but not too sweet. Burning down is good-natured without much condensate. The enigmatic aroma is noticeable to the end, but diminishes in the second half of something. Despite the pleasing taste, the strength of the tobacco is consistently present. The Bracken Flake is therefore more likely for the second half of the day, either to end after a good lunch or the evening. The residual ash is fine and dark grey.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Bracken Flake is dominated by the tobacco smell. The mild flavour lends the fragrance a subtle, fruity-sweet note. This tobacco seems unobtrusive. The Bracken Flake should be welcome in societies where it’s allowed to smoke.
Conclusion:
The Bracken Flake manifests itself after opening the tin as dark brown slices with strong, earthy smell of tobacco, mixed with an elusive, perfume-like aroma. The handling is easy and burning down good-naturedly, without much condensate. The flavour develops after lighting a subtle fruity-sweet taste which combines with the strong tobacco into a rather pleasant mild taste. A light chocolate aftertaste rounds out the look, whereby the flake can not deny its strength. The redolence is pleasantly unobtrusive, which makes the Bracken Flake socially. The tobacco is perfect to enjoy after a good lunch or the end of your day. He is both for the experienced smoker as well as for cautious beginners recommended.
