The Loose Cut is a uniform medium brown and slightly wider. Loosened up, it appears slightly dry but exudes a fruity, sweet aroma. Therefore, it can be plugged immediately after opening.
Plugging:
The loose-cut preparation and low moisture content make the Hamburger Grüße easy to plug. Simply pour the tobacco in a slack way at the bottom and gently press it in towards the top – this way, the filling is effortlessly.
Light up:
The Hamburger Grüße catches the flame remarkably easy. Here, too, the low residual moisture proves to be an advantage. The surface is simply smoothed briefly with the tamper, allowing a second flame to create an even bed of embers.
Smoking properties:
The Hamburger Grüße initially exhibits a straightforward spiciness, typical of a stronger Virginia variety. The Burley, however, is also a prime example of its provenance, contributing an intense nuttiness that harmonizes pleasantly with the spiciness of the Virginia. The Oriental used is certainly spicy, but it must also be acknowledged as having a floral, subtly perfumed note. Overall, the result is a sophisticated, exciting, yet balanced flavor profile. The uncomplicated burn makes it easy to consciously enjoy the Hamburger Grüße without having to pay too much attention to the smoking behavior. Cleaning the medium-gray ash is also a breeze.
Redolency:
The room note of Hamburger Grüße is also natural. This should be considered if you plan to smoke the tobacco in the company of non-smokers.
Conclusion:
In its medium-brown Loose Cut, the Hamburg Grüße combines primarily intense Virginia and distinct nutty Burley. Hidden in the fruity-sweet cold-scent, the oriental reveals in the smoke: Floral aromas, pleasantly accompanying the spicy smoking process and lending a surprisingly distinctive note to a tobacco that appears rather rustic in its pack size and presentation. Furthermore, the Hamburg Greetings is easy to prepare and smoke, making it suitable for beginners as well as those looking for a tobacco for every occasion but don't want to miss out on that certain something.
