"Blow, boys, blow!" ... A real classic English Virginia Flake how the Sailors loved it on the windjammer: taste of real tobacco, not too weak and yet "seut un' sacht" (sweet and gentle). The slow and cool burning creates very best conditions for a delectable, aromatic soft smoking experience.
Actually the Hamborger Veermaster is a flake, but by the (laudable!) waiver of the manufacturer to humectants and "glues" the tobacco is so crumbly that it rather amounts to a Ready Rubbed-Mixture. This more or less rubbed Flake is evenly light and medium brown and interspersed with golden speckles. The smell in the tin is marked by a typical for Virginia sweetness of dry fruits, complemented by an interesting spicy aroma of cloves and anise. Since the tobacco, as already mentioned, by no means is too moist, it can be filled immediately.
Bringing the Hamborger Veermaster as whole Flake folded into the pipe is difficult. To understand the whole as a Ready Rubbed-Mixture facilitatesthe plugging of this tobacco. In fact, one should proceed the plugging even a little harder than usual, since the tamper must be used in between also during smoking and thus a better puffing arises. Above a few loose tobacco fibers suffice for a good burning.
The Hamborger Veermaster can be ignited with a single flame at some care. Only gently flatten the surface of embers with the tamper then the tobacco burns until the end.
The smoke of the Hamborg Veermaster is strong and tingles on the tongue when the tobacco is smoked too hot, but this is not unusual for a pure Virginia. The flavors are typical of a Virginia tobacco, yet very versatile. Smoked cool shows the Hamborger Veermaster tart tobacco spice accompanied by a full-bodied nuttiness. Also hints of bread flavors connoisseurs combine with Virginia tobaccos, and in this case also completes a fine black bread sweetness the spicier components of tobacco and thus ensure a harmonious interplay that is never boring. From time to time you should carefully use the tamper that the embers gets better contact with the tobacco, but this is never really annoying. So simple like smoking, is also the cleaning, because despite of just a little medium gray ash and little condensate nothing remains in the pipe.
In the room the Hamborger Veermaster is tobacco genuine and should be perceived as not too onerous in a tolerant society.
The Hamborger Veermaster uniform light-, medium- and golden brown and due to its natural production method so brittle Flake that it is more like a Ready Rubbed-Mixture. The fragrance is spicy-sweet of anise, cloves and dried fruits. Even here it is where it shows the character of pure Virginia. And also in the smoke the Hamborger Veermaster hides not this feature. Smoked cool - and that's at Virginia's always recommended - supplies of tobacco dry-spicy flavors with a pleasant nuttiness, completed by the expected in the scent, reminiscent of black bread, natural sweetness of sugar-rich Virginias. The smoke is more strong and so the Hamborg Vermaster is aimed not necessarily at beginners, but its character is straightforward enough to be quite suitable for smoking by the way with some attention. Even as an entry into the world of pure Virginias for not quite inexperienced smokers, the Hamborger Vermaster is suitable with its thoroughly honest flavors also.
