If you like the mallard, you’ll love this. The virginias cannot be faulted, the blending is superb, there’s supposed to be some kentucky in there along with a whiskey topping, both of which has been used with a very light hand.
Both the mallard and Sir William taste like they’ve fallen into the fruit punch bowl, at least with the Mallard it burns off quickly and your left with a pleasant tobacco taste. Not so with Sir William, so if you have a sweet tooth and you want a change from Cherry topped tobacco Sir William will do it for you unfortunately for me, I don’t have a sweet tooth when it comes to tobacco, but I’d never stand in the way of a man who loves his sugary goodness in a pipe.
For me, I need to find a relatively bland tobacco to mix this with. 3 out of 5 stars, simply because Rattrays tobacco’s, now blended by K & K cannot be faulted in quality.
