Manufacturer Description:
Fully ripe Virginia and Burleys, topped with precious spicy tobaccos, make the Sweet Cavendish a first class mix. The already loosened tobacco is good to stuff.
Characterisation:
The Mixture No. 3 is packed in a pouch and so its easy to just put it in your pocket and take with you. To store the opened tobacco for a longer time, it should be transferred to a container that can be sealed airtight. The fibers of Mixture No. 3 are rather short and slightly curly and very evenly mixed light and medium brown. Very fitting to this color is the surprising sweetish smell, reminiscent of freshly sliced biscuit cake. Since the tobacco contains hardly any residual moisture, it can be plugged immediately.
Plugging:
The Mixture No. 3 can be plugged looser at the bottom and tighter at the upper side according to the proven method for Loose Cuts. It also does not mind if the pressure is a little firmer - on the contrary, it promotes burning.
Light up:
You may need two flames to evenly ignite the Mixture No. 3. If the first flame does not suffice, after a short smoothing of the surface with the tamper, give fire again to obtain a permanent glow.
Smoking properties:
In view of the aromatic sweet scent, the Mixture No. 3 surprises with lush and tobacco-spicy smoke. There is hardly any sweetness to taste here. Although distinct and very pleasant roasted aromas are present, the smoky, resinous and tangy spicy notes dominate the course of the smoke. This is completely straightforward, if you do not puff too hard on the pipe, which should be avoid due to the noticeable strength, too. Only left in the pipe are some medium gray ash and a little condensate, which does very little work in cleaning the pipe.
Redolency:
The Mixture No. 3 fills the room with tobacco-spicy smoke and should therefore not be enjoyed in the company of non-smokers.
Conclusion:
Although the Mixture No. 3 in the preparation and in the course of smoking shows as uncomplicated, the tobacco is rather less recommended for beginners. In view of the cake smell of the tobaccos in light shades of brown, many may be surprised by how lush and spicy the tobacco is. Its strength should not be underestimated either. However, this harmonizes with the austere and resinous aromas, which have hardly any of the natural sweetness that could be suspected in the cold scent. The distinct toasted bread flavor completes the Mixture pleasantly and ensures that the smoke is not stressful. The Mixture No. 3 is a tobacco that will especially appeal to lovers of stronger Mixtures who are looking for an uncomplicated tobacco for every occasion.
