E. P. Carrillo La Historia Behind the brand E.P. Carrillo stands none other than Ernesto Perez Carrillo, one of the most skilled and creative master blenders of today. Born in Cuba, tobacco was practically handed to him at birth. However, Carrillo initially pursued a different path, following his passion as a jazz musician. His career in the tobacco industry began in 1990 at his father’s company, »El Credito Cigar Company«. Demand exploded almost overnight due to a stellar cigar rating in Cigar Aficionado and the cigar boom in America. In 2000, he sold the company but remained as master blender until 2009. Carrillo longed for new challenges. He wanted to prove to himself that he could succeed without the cigar boom and without his father paving the way. Thus, in 2009, he founded »EPC Cigar Co.« together with his son and daughter. Success didn’t wait long. After all, he is rightly known as »The Godfather of Boutique Cigars«. He proves his expertise with series like »New Wave Connecticut«, »INCH Natural«, and »La Historia«, earning great recognition in both specialist press and among aficionados.
